Completely fill out, sign and date the following:

  • A Home Provider or Home Seeker Application, including references
  • Waiver and Release of All Liability
  • Authorization for Criminal Background Check
  • A check made payable to Vashon Household for $10 for the background check ($25 if you have lived outside of Washington State in the past 10 years)

How Homesharing will affect your income

If your income is affected, check with the IRS about the effect on your income taxes.

  • Eligibility for SSI, Food Stamps, Medicaid, Chore Services, Utility Supplements, Dental Supplements
  • Home and/or renters insurance

Approval Process


  • Let your references know that Homeshare partners will be contacting them.
  • When VHHHP contacts you to schedule an interview, arrange a day/time to meet in the VHHHP offices
  • Meet at VHHHP offices on scheduled day and time for Application Interview


Making a Match


  • If Homeshare Partners contacts you to meet a potential Homesharer, follow up with VHHHP or with the Homesharer to schedule a meeting with this person.
  • Meet with Home Seekers in public setting.  If you seem compatible, arrange another meeting to talk more and perhaps see the home to be shared.
  • Recommended: Before moving in, make a homesharing agreement (using Homeshare Partners’ sample form, or one of your own design)
  • Send Homeshare Partners a copy of homeshare agreement (by fax, mail, or drop off)




  • When contacted by Homeshare Partners, complete brief telephone follow-up interviews
  • Maintain a tidy, safe living space and abide by the terms of the homesharing agreement 
  • Periodically review homesharing agreement and negotiate changes as needed
  • If conflicts arise, use Homeshare Partners’ Conflict Resolution Suggestions to help settle differences
  • If you decide to end the homesharing arrangement, contact Homeshare Partners and complete a brief telephone exit interview
  • Contact Homeshare Partners if you ever want to have your name removed from our list of actively searching HomeSharers; otherwise, your name will be in our database until you find a match.
  • Contact Homeshare Partners if you need to update your application
